Students, staff and parents at Collegiate are celebrating following an excellent set of A Level and C/BTEC examination results.
With these examination results having no adjustment for the impact of the global pandemic, despite them being the first unadjusted exams that this cohort had sat, we might have expected the raw results to be a little lower than in 2019, for example. However, such has been the effort of both students and their teachers that this group have exceeded previous performances in almost every area.
The headline figures make for very encouraging reading, but please read below the numbers too!
- 45% of A Level grades were awarded at A/A*
- 77% of A Level grades were awarded at A*/B
- 85% of CTEC and BTEC grades were awarded at Starred Distinction / Distinction (the equivalent of A*/A at A Level)
- 16 students (24% of the cohort) achieved the equivalent of AAA or better
- Approximately 90% of applicants secured their first or second choice university courses
Collegiate Head, Mr Jeremy McCullough, said: “We are always delighted when our collective raw results are very good but, as ever, it is the individual success stories that really demonstrate the value of the education a school has provided and it was fantastic to see so many smiling faces collecting their results this morning.
“Our brilliant students have worked ever so hard, and have been fantastically well-supported by their teachers and their parents. They have earned a superb set of results that will see approximately 90% of them move on to their first or second choice university or apprenticeship, but they have achieved so much more than this in their time at Collegiate.”
“A particular mention must go to the Collegiate Mathematics Department who, having recently been listed as the joint-7th best Maths Department in the country, have recorded 84% of A Level grades at A* or A. 80% of Further Maths grades were A* or A.
“We have always said that there is much more to school than preparing for examinations, and it is crystal clear that our students’ co-curricular engagement absolutely supports their academic achievement. This year group have contributed to school life in so many different ways and, in doing so, they will have picked up a great many other personal qualities, such as resilience, determination and, I hope, kindness. These qualities will stand them in good stead for the future.”
Year 13 leaver Alana Goodwin secured three A* grades and said: “I am delighted to get an A* in all of my subjects, particularly Maths, as I wasn’t expecting it! I’m now looking forward to starting a Level 7 apprenticeship at EY in Bristol.”
