OC Society events |
The OC Society joined forces with the OCRFC and Colston's School Parents' Society to hold our third Summer Ball in recent years. A good mix of OCs of all ages enjoyed the company of members of the Rugby Club and parents from the Lower and Upper School and their friends.
The OC Co-ordinator Tracy Mace writes:
"I am thrilled to have been involved with another wonderful Colston’s summer ball. This event was a great success and everyone seemed to enjoy the party. The delicious glasses of fizz at the pre-dinner drinkson the lawn started the evening off with a pop even though the air went off chilly.
The night soon warmed up in the marquee; the lovely set up by South-West Marquees of Frome and a delicious meal served with, what can only be described as military precision, by the excellent Hannah and Mark of AHM caterers from Staplehill made this a prestigious event.
As soon as dinner was finished the music started. The Shuffles Band really got the party going and were brilliant. The dance floor was full all night, which was a great indicator that everyone was having fun!
The bar too was busy all night and the atmosphere was well and truly buzzing!
All of this could not have happened without the amazing support of a number of volunteers who were on the ball committee. I really do need to give special thanks to Julia Ambrose, Justin Hill and Steve Guest (parents of current pupils at the school), Len Collacott (from the OC rugby club), Martin Tayler, Ian Gunn, Andy Thomas and Simon Quinn (from the OC Society) and Julia Prince (the school's facilities manager.)
We had some incredible sponsorship this year and special thanks go to the Old Colstonian Rugby Club, BSPM Ltd, Richard Mace OC of R Mace Estates Ltd, Richard Houghton of Houghton Stone, Marcus Thorne OC of Avonports Laundry Services Ltd, Richard Sheppard OC of John Sheppard Butchers, Andy Thomas OC of Eastman & Co Timber Ltd, Steve Guest of Fromevale Ltd, Julia DiPippa of Bristol Urology Associates, Ian Gunn OC and Bob Jennings OC.
Martin also had his volunteer helpers in the bar on the night and a big thank you to Dave Mason, Dylan Kaye and again Julia and Justin. We also had a number of pupils who, seeking support for their World Challenge, gave their time to volunteer and helped wait on tables. Hannah from AHM said they were excellent and great representatives of the school. Thanks too to Doug Lodge for his excellent photos.
All I can say now is roll on summer 2020 when we hope to do it all over again!"
