OC Society events |
Although the rugby didn’t quite go our way for the last game of 2023 and grand opening of the pavilion, with the OCRFC losing to Dings, it certainly didn’t dampen the celebrations afterwards. Len Collacott, President of the OCs said "'It is terrific news that we now have such a smart and fully up-to-date Pavilion. It is the main base for all OC activities as well as the home of the OCRFC and we hope we can take full advantage of the facility. Great work all round."
We cannot believe just how fantastic the newly refurbished pavilion is, and Oakland Construction really have done a fantastic job of transforming the space. We were delighted that Tom Lee-Fox, OC and Director of Oakland Construction, and Ryan, the Project Manager, were able to join us for the opening event. Tom had very kindly supplied a wonderful hog roast to mark the occasion, and this went down very well indeed. A big thank you to Tom for this.
Some other thanks are needed;
*To Len Collacott as President of the OC committee who has driven this project through
*To Matt Leek, Chairman of the Rugby Club, for overseeing the project through at every stage from the design to the colour of the walls, and even to the new beers on tap
*To the OC committee for supporting the pavilion’s development
*To the School, and in particular to Simon Crossman, for supporting the OCs along the way
*And to Tom, Ryan and the team at Oakland Construction who really have delivered us an amazing clubhouse which will stand us in good stead for years to come. Tom-we can honestly say that it has been a delight to work with you on this project and we feel that you have delivered something even better than we thought possible and we thank you for this.
The new pavilion not only is more inclusive and compliant, with a ramp, disabled toilet, lowered bar and hearing induction loop, it has also been updated significantly. The bar area has been extended with the back of the bar having a glass washer and ice machine. A professional kitchen has been installed at the other end of the pavilion, along with additional storage, a new floor, updated lighting and new unisex toilets. We also have a great new sound system and large flatscreen TV. All in all, it’s a great place to hang out. We do hope that you will pop along at some time and take a look at it yourself-and hope that you will join us for a drink or two in our lovely new bar.
We will be taking lettings in the New Year and more details regarding this will be available in due course.
