Issy’s journey to cafe ownership started with a leap of faith. After leaving school, she found herself at a crossroads:
"I felt very lost and didn’t know what I wanted to do with my life. All my friends were heading to university, but I just knew that wasn’t the right path for me,"
she shares. Always more creative than academic, Issy decided to pursue her passions. In 2021, she launched a grazing board business, which became the foundation for her dream of owning a cafe. Though school wasn’t always easy for her, Issy credits those years with teaching her resilience and determination—qualities that have been essential in building Willow and Fig from the ground up along with her business partner Sher.
The cafe is a true labour of love. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with a newly revamped garden that’s perfect for sunny days. Willow and Fig also boasts a versatile event space, ideal for everything from baby showers to business meetings.
Easter at Willow and Fig is an experience not to be missed. The menu features indulgent treats like chocolaty pancakes, Mini Egg milkshakes, and a range of homemade bakes. For families, the cafe offers fun activities, including Children’s Easter Afternoon Teas, biscuit decorating, and craft sessions—making it the perfect holiday outing.
Beyond the cafe, Chipping Sodbury itself is a treasure. Its high street is lined with independent businesses, from Jess Bright Photography and Lucy Butler Flowers to Little Squidge and Shabby Chic, offering everything from bespoke gifts to vintage finds. The town’s charm and character make it a delightful destination, with Willow and Fig as its crowning jewel.
Looking to the future, Issy has ambitious plans to expand, dreaming of opening a second cafe. But for now, Willow and Fig remains a beloved spot where creativity, community, and delicious food come together. This Easter, why not make it part of your celebrations? You’re bound to leave with a full heart as well as a full stomach.
I for one, am looking forward to a tasty treat this Easter Break!
