John Hunt, (OC, 1948), who was here from 1943-48 and in West House as a boarder visited us just before half term. He is currently 91 years old and still lives in Bristol. He told us about breaking all but two of the school rules and eating ‘Cribb cabbage’ pretty much every day – apparently this was a fairly disgusting meal!
Other memories included the catering team once boiled 200 eggs for all the boys in the school tea urn as a ‘treat’ – the urn never recovered and representing his House in the five-mile cross country.
John went on from school to do his two-years National Service, going overseas to Africa and Egypt, later moving in to business and office work.
We were delighted to see John and to share some of his memories with him
