We are very pleased to share with you the wonderful news that David Thomas, OC 2001 – 2008 has been awarded an OBE.
We send our congratulations to David.
David, Principal of Jane Austen College and Strategy Director for Inspiration Trust, has been named in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List for his outstanding services to education during the Covid-19 crisis. He has been awarded an OBE for his work helping not only his school but children at schools across the country during lockdown.
“I would like to add my thanks to all the staff at Colston’s who helped me develop the skills I needed to be in a position to help when this crisis started. It was through the responsibilities I was given at school, such as being a prefect and in the CCF, that I learned what it meant to take initiative and make things happen.” David Thomas
David led the team at Jane Austen College to switch seamlessly to remote learning and ensure children could continue to receive an excellent education during closures. The package included assemblies, form time and live online lessons. He was also simultaneously involved in the launch of Oak National Academy, working tirelessly as their Curriculum Director, to develop the online learning platform that is being used by more than 250,000 children each week.
