OC Golf Society |
The Autumn Meeting was held at the Bristol and Clifton Golf Club at Failand. This long established club, founded in 1891, has long been regarded as one of the Bristol area’s most prestigious venues.
A warm, sunny afternoon was the setting for the Society’s first visit to the B.and C. for at least well over thirty years. The delightful parkland course of 6,413 yards was in first class condition and a number of our golfers commented on the particular challenge of some very long par 4s.
At the post match dinner and prize giving, Dave Tooze thanked everyone for their attendance and support, especially Bob Jennings and Steve Tucker for organising another super event, and for ensuring its precision running. It was good to see Pat and Sam Bowrey from Cornwall, Pat having swiftly recovered from a knee operation, with a repeat planned for November. The O.C.G.S wish Pat a similarly successful encore.
Prize Winners were –
1st Gross Pat Bowrey 2nd. Gross Bob Jennings
1st.Net Chris Wells
1st.Stableford Andy Thomas 2nd.Stableford Alastair Huckle
Nearest Pin (7th.) Sam Bowrey Nearest Pin (17th.) Chris Wells
Other golfers in action were -- Pete Boswell, Kev Griffiths, Richard Hibberd and Steve Tucker, plus attending in a social capacity -- Peter Huckle, Mike Humphries, and Dave Tooze.
Bob concluded by reminding everyone that Carlyon Bay had been booked for the 5th /6th/7th of April 2024, and in view of the very successful meeting this summer, organised in conjunction with the School and parents, it was agreed that a repeat next year would be very welcome.
